Peter Borkon appointed as judge for Alameda County Superior Court

Peter Borkon has been appointed as judge of the Alameda County Superior Court.

Borkon currently serves as a partner at law firm Bleichmar Fonti & Auld LLP. He will be filling the vacancy of former judge Patrick Zika, who retired in July 2021, according to Alameda County Superior Court Judge Tara Desautels.

UC system extends use of accrued sick leave for child care purposes

On Wednesday, UC President Michael Drake approved an extension through June 30, allowing policy-covered employees to use accrued sick leave for child care purposes as a result of COVID-19.

David Robinson named next chief campus counsel of UC Berkeley

Robinson has served as the interim chief campus counsel since October 2017. Christopher Patti, the previous chief campus counsel, was killed in a bicycle accident in August 2017. Starting in June, Robinson’s appointment will become permanent.

Chancellor Carol Christ announced the appointment of David Robinson as the interim chief campus counsel on Oct. 3 to take over the position of the late Christopher Patti, 59, who was killed in a bicycle accident in August.

Zach Cowan retires as Berkeley city attorney, succeeded by Farimah Brown

Zach Cowan retired from his city attorney position Friday after nearly 24 years of service with the city of Berkeley. He will be succeeded by Farimah Brown, a municipal attorney who has worked for various cities of the East Bay.
