Researchers find new species, evidence of early primates during late Cretaceous Period

Fossils originally discovered in 2003 were recently identified as a new species, which has been given the name Purgatorius mckeeveri. Purgatorius mckeeveri has been labeled a new species due to the fossils' variation from other previously identified species such as Purgatorius janisae.

In 2003, Greg Wilson Mantilla was examining fossils from Hell Creek, Montana, ultimately resulting in the identification of a new species, Purgatorius mckeeveri.
