Gov. Newsom signed 22 bills for wildfire mitigation and preparedness efforts Wednesday, building on $1 billion allocated for wildfire investment. 

Researchers at UC Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory recently developed a system that uses a satellite and drones to detect wildfires at an early stage.

The city of Berkeley plans to hold a series of public workshops in the next few months as it works toward rebuilding Tuolumne Camp, a city-operated campsite near Yosemite that was destroyed in the Rim Fire of 2013.
