Cal women’s tennis showed seamless wins against Utah and Colorado last week with not a single match out of 14 lost. The team will face UCLA and USC next week.

With some close matches and stellar performances from Cal's freshmen, the team came out on top despite losing the doubles point to start off the match.

The previously ranked No. 1 Longhorns beat Cal in a consolation match at indoor nationals in Madison just two weeks earlier. The Bears came in looking for revenge, and they tried to bounce back against Texas on Feb. 27 on their home terrain.

Last weekend Cal women’s tennis faced a setback from UCLA after defeating SDSU just a day earlier. Coming out of a quarterfinal loss at indoor nationals, the Bears were looking to regain their winning streak.

Last weekend, No. 4 Cal women’s tennis struggled with the follow through in many of its matches and fell in the quarter finals of the national indoor championship.

After a stellar start to the season, No. 4 Cal women's tennis carved itself a path to indoor nationals, beating BYU and Vanderbilt to qualify.

In the final stretch, Cal women's tennis is playing its last match before the big tournament in the first part of the spring season.

Cal hosted the ITA Kickoff Weekend, one of 15 across the country last week. Tensions were high as the winner was to secure a spot for the national indoor championship.

The team managed to overcome all obstacles — in the form of strong athletic and meteorological opponents — to beat UC Santa Barbara and second-ranked Pepperdine in its first two dual matches of the season last weekend.

The Bears had a stellar run against Saint Mary’s, Santa Clara and Cal Poly, but some of Cal’s best players had a tough road to get there.
