Whatever it is we’re doing, summer really isn't a break anymore. When we've spent the past ten months working non-stop, we need time off. Risking burnout and mental breakdowns, it's incredibly important to take time and breathe. So, even if we can't take off a few well-deserved months, there are still some ways for us to feel rejuvenated and relaxed this summer.

Back in high school, there was a structure to everything. You woke up at the same time every day, walked in the same hallways at school, met the same group of friends in classes, had dinner with your family every night, did homework before bed and repeat. Now all of a sudden in college, you’re thrust into an environment where you’re in control. You’re the master of your 24 hours. If this seems daunting, you’re not alone.

But the campus and its gatekeepers of all colors still seem to be failing to understand that no amount of special grants for student-parents will make the campus more diverse if the culture around supporting parenting people does not also shift in practice.
