With four consecutive losses — most recently a loss on the road against Utah — and a 1-2 conference record, the Bears will be looking to win both matches if they want to turn their momentum around and have a winning record in the Pac-12.

Cal men’s tennis is in a losing slump, with its 4-2 loss against then-No. 40 Utah on the road marking its fourth consecutive loss.

In their two games in Southern California this past weekend, the Bears fell both times, first to the Waves of Pepperdine and second to the Gauchos of UCSB.

After playing four games at home, Cal men’s tennis will travel to Southern California to face the Waves of Pepperdine University on Saturday.

Cal men’s tennis came back after its loss to Columbia, winning against the Mustangs of SMU and the Sun Devils of ASU. However, the Bears ended their four straight matches at home with a loss to the Wildcats of Arizona.

The Bears beat San Diego by a score of 5-2, extending their record to 7-2. The Bears managed to climb back to victory in singles after losing the doubles point to San Diego.

Following their match against San Diego, the Bears will then immediately high-tail it over to La Jolla to play in the Pacific Coast Doubles Championships, facing competitors like No. 3 Michigan, No. 8 USC and No. 24 Stanford.

The Bears beat San Francisco 5-1 and routed Davis 6-0, in what was an attempt by Cal’s head coach Kris Kwinta to put some additional pressure on his team ahead of tough matchups and conference play beginning as soon as later this week.

he Bears have their sights set on the upcoming double-header against San Francisco and UC Davis. While Cal will be taking San Francisco on its home courts in Berkeley on Saturday, the team will be traveling to Davis to take on the Aggies later that same day.

Despite Cal’s solid 6-1 win over Pacific on Thursday, head coach Kris Kwinta praised the team’s energy over anything else.
